On June 25, the Arbitration Chamber (CArb) of the ABPI Dispute Resolution Center (CSD-ABPI) will hold the in-person event “Relationship Breakfast: Patents, Public Contracts and Arbitration” at the ABPI headquarters in São Paulo, starting at 9 am.
The objective of the event is to foster debate on the use of arbitration as an efficient mechanism for resolving disputes involving patent contracts signed with the government. The initiative aims not only to publicize the activities of the ABPI Arbitration Chamber, but also to stimulate legal reflection on the limits, challenges and potential of arbitration in IP matters, especially in situations involving the public interest and the role of the State as a contracting party.
The guest speakers are Karin Klempp Franco, arbitrator, director of the Mediation Chamber (CMed) of CSD-ABPI and specialist in Business Law, with over 25 years of experience in the areas of IP, Privacy and Data Protection, Digital Law and Arbitration; Maysa Abrahão Tavares Verzola, specialist in Strategic Litigation, Arbitration and Administrative Law, with over 20 years of experience in complex disputes, including post-M&A and conflicts involving public entities; Clávio Valença Filho, independent arbitrator with over 25 years of experience in complex disputes in the areas of infrastructure, corporate and international trade; and Sarita de Oliveira Moura Silva, Legal Sector Manager for the Center for Research, Development and Innovation (Cenpes) and Intellectual Property at Petrobras and master in Law and Public Policy from Unirio.
